There is so much uncertainty right now, not just on a national level, but on a global level. Will we be able to beat this Coronavirus? How long will our borders be shut down for? What can we do to help us survive this pandemic we are all facing? There are some things we can do, apart from social distancing ourselves from unnecessary gatherings; we can also take the time to look after ourselves, our health and our families.
When we had limited supplies at the supermarkets for basic packaged foods like pasta and rice, some of us started thinking it is time to go back to the way our ancestors lived and our ancestors before them.
Many of us started planting seedlings of cherry tomatoes, mixed lettuces and herbs, we knew it wouldn't grow over night, but now we are starting to reap the benefits and we are enjoying having fresh produce at our disposal and now we have learnt to appreciate what it is like to grow and savour our own produce and not waste it unnecessarily. How many times in our lives have we purchased way too much produce, only to push them to the back of our fridge and then find them again when they're all wilted and it is too late so they end up in the bin.
It is times like this that we need to learn how to eat from the ground up, and stop consuming heavily processed and additive laden foods. We need to learn to be more self sufficient, as this year has certainly taught us we cannot always rely on the convenience of the supermarkets down the road.
Perhaps this is the shakeup that this world needed?
We have also learnt that we need to build up our immune systems more than ever, especially in the colder, wetter months. Eat more fruits and vegetables; they are full of real vitamins and minerals that our bodies need in order to fight illnesses. Perhaps we should eat less meat (yes I said it! I, who loves to eat a juicy steak and claimed I could never go vegetarian) and perhaps a little more fish instead, maybe even go and fish for our dinner ourselves to ensure we are not buying imported farmed seafood.
We need to take vitamin C daily like we used to in the "good old" days, and what about vitamin D as well? We need to get outside, even if it is in our own backyard, take our hat off and for just 10 minutes soak up that warm sun and feel the power of that nearly perfect sphere of hot plasma on our bodies. And as much as we can, go for a nice long walk, breathe in the fresh air and enjoy nature, we live on the most amazing planet (that we know of), one that we should be cherishing now more than ever. And if we see someone else whilst on our walk, we should wave from a distance and smile, because after all, we are all in this together.
We should be drinking more water too, to replenish our bodies and flush out all the bad toxins. Perhaps reduce the alcohol consumption while we are at it, as that is a toxin in itself (I say this while sipping my velvety, smooth glass of red wine.... hmmm maybe tomorrow I will take a break!).
There is another thing we can do to boost our health and well being... consume medicinal mushrooms. Mushrooms have been used for centuries in Eastern medicine, and are still being recommended today for many health benefits and preventatives.
Did you know that Lion's Mane is being recommended as a preventative for dementia as it can help with brain growth and memory loss. Turkey Tail has been used to help prevent cancer especially for patients in remission; Oncologists are recommending patients to take these mushrooms on a daily basis. Reishi has been known to help relieve mild symptoms of depression and anxiety. Chaga is known to help with inflammation and aging and to lower LDL's (the bad cholesterol) and Cordyceps is fantastic for energy, muscle recovery and athletic performance.
Whichever mushroom you choose, they all have great immunity boosting properties and as such if you want a good all rounder to help prevent any illnesses, we have made a customised blend (our Supreme Blend) that contains each of these supreme mushrooms in the one package. If you are interested in boosting your immune system, try our Supreme Blend, and just like the seeds you planted in your garden, it won't happen overnight, you will need to consume them daily to reap the benefits over a long period of time, but you will start to feel amazing as soon as you sip that first cup, just knowing you are finally doing something good for yourself and your family!
Good information thanks for posting it, during this time I am taking Chaga Mushrooms from livingnutritionals made in the USA and it has helped me a lot in improving my immune system, prevents inflammation, balances blood sugar levels and helps hyperglycemia. Since it has antioxidant properties.
